Domingo Lopez is a dual board certified nurse practitioner who specializes in family medicine and psychiatry. After earning his diploma in vocational nursing as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), he began working on a medical-surgical floor at Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He then earned his Associate of Science and Nursing (RN-ASN) at Galen College of Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) from Grand Canyon University. He worked many years at Audie Murphy VA Hospital with experience in cardiology, medical-surgical, surgery, neurology, and specialties in psychiatry, spinal cord injury, poly-trauma specifically veterans with traumatic brain injury. Domingo later returned to The University of The Incarnate Word (UIW) to earn a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). While working with the underserved patient population he encountered many patients with a mental health need in the community and local county jail, so he then decided to return to UIW for his Post-Master’s Certification in Psychiatry (PMHNP).
He holds dual national board certifications which include: FNP board certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and PMHNP certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Additionally he has over 8 years in Correctional Medicine with credentialing through the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). His professional membership awards include AANP Conference assistant 2015, and Psych Congress Scholar 2022, Sigma Theta Tau (Delta Alpha-at-Large/2016), The National Society of Leadership and Success 2015. During his educational journey he was awarded The Baptist Foundation Scholarship and The Health Resources & Services Administration Scholarship for Advanced Nurses Education Traineeship (ANET).
Domingo continues to work with vulnerable, diverse and under-served populations as he strives to provide the highest level of care possible for all patients.
